One weekend in November two schemes were launched in Asia. They were launched on the same day in the same venue to the same audience – their launch situation was exactly comparable. One scheme is in Elephant and Castle – it sold at £425 psf, about 20% below the 2007 market peak. The other scheme is in Islington – it sold at £750 psf, about the same as the 2007 peak. And this is roughly how the London new homes market finds itself post-recession – half the market is still suffering, half is doing just fine.
